Construction plant finance: Kit on site next week, not next quarter.
Plant lenders take the machine itself as security, so they judge the deal on the kit and your order book. Your yard doesn’t usually come into it.

The trade
What makes construction different.
-
Retentions tie up cash for months
Main contractors often hold back part of what you’re owed (the retention) until long after the work is done. Spreading the cost of the machine keeps your cash for wages, materials and getting started on site.
-
Hiring sometimes beats buying
A machine that sits idle four months a year may be cheaper to hire. If that’s the honest answer for a particular machine, we’ll say so, even though it earns us nothing.
-
Auction and private sales can be financed
A lot of used plant changes hands outside dealers. Lenders usually want an inspection or valuation on older or higher-value machines, and we arrange that with them. Talk to us before the sale and the terms can be ready when the hammer falls.
Funding routes
How construction deals usually get funded.
-
A machine, attachment or low-loader: asset finance
Asset finance £5k–£10m · 1–7 years
New or used, with the cost spread over its working life.
-
A tax bill, wages or a one-off cost: business loans
Business loans £1k–£500k · 3 months–6 years
A loan over months or years, or cash from equipment you own.
-
Invoices waiting to be paid: invoice finance
Invoice finance Up to 90% paid up front
Paid now, not in 60 or 90 days, from the lenders who take construction invoices.
How it works
From first call to funds in three steps.
- A five-minute call What you need to fund, roughly how much and a little about you or the business. No paperwork up front. Day one
- We search the market We go to the lenders on our panel most likely to say yes, and bring back their early quotes side by side. Usually same day
- Sign and get funded Choose a quote and we handle the application. Once you sign, the lender pays out, to you or your supplier. Often within a week
Questions
What contractors ask us.
If yours isn’t here, ring us. You’ll get a straight answer from someone who knows the kit, not a script.
Not always. Established businesses buying mainstream plant can sometimes put nothing down. A deposit, or a first payment up front, often gets a better rate, and we’ll show you both.
It’s normal in this trade, and lenders who fund construction expect it. What matters more is whether the machine has work to go to.
Yes, with the base machine or separately. Asset finance starts at £5,000, so a smaller item can go on a business loan instead, from £1,000.
