Recycling & waste finance: Plant funded over the years it earns.
Recycling plant can take months to install and years to pay back. The right lender can spread the cost over its working life, so a sound investment doesn’t look unaffordable month to month.

The trade
What makes recycling and waste different.
-
Vehicles and plant can be financed separately
Refuse vehicles and skip loaders can go on an agreement of their own, with a term to suit the vehicle rather than the plant. A truck you’ll replace in five years needn’t be tied to a seven-year baler deal.
-
A new line takes time to reach full volume
Some lenders offer stepped payments for this: lower for the first months, then level for the rest of the term, so the cost rises with the output.
-
Your permit matters to the lender
Lenders look at your environmental permit and site licences as part of their decision. Having them up to date makes the process quicker.
Funding routes
How recycling and waste deals usually get funded.
-
A baler, picking line or refuse vehicle: asset finance
Asset finance £5k–£10m · 1–7 years
New or used, with the cost spread over its working life.
-
Site works, installation or a one-off cost: business loans
Business loans £1k–£500k · 3 months–6 years
A loan over months or years, or cash from equipment you own.
-
Invoices waiting to be paid: invoice finance
Invoice finance Up to 90% paid up front
Most of the money now, instead of waiting 60 or 90 days to be paid.

Questions
What recycling and waste firms ask us.
If yours isn’t here, ring us. You’ll get a straight answer from someone who knows the kit, not a script.
With hire purchase, where you own the plant at the end, the VAT is usually paid at the start: with the deposit, or through a short VAT loan some lenders offer until you reclaim it. With a lease, it’s added to each payment instead. We’ll set out which applies before you sign.
Yes. Older plant usually means a shorter term and sometimes an inspection, but a well-maintained baler or shredder with life left in it can be financed.
Often, if it’s on the supplier’s invoice with the plant. Building work or installation billed separately is harder to finance this way, and a business loan may suit it better.
